Home-made cages are a great way to customize your ratties cage to suit you better and to make it more fun for you rat.
There are only a couple of guidelines to follow; There should be no wires sticking into or out of the cage which could injure
you or your rat, the base must not be covered in wire as this can hurt your rats sensitive feet and if the cage is wood any
sealer or varnish used must be non toxic.
Other than that and a bit of commonsense you can have fun adding tunnels, ladders and shelves and anything else that
takes your fancy.
